Professional but Little-Known Certifications in Cryptocurrency and Blockchain

Did you know there are industry recognized certifications in blockchain and cryptocurrency? Yeah, who knew, right!?!?!

While browsing the Internet one morning, I was curious what kinds of certifications there were for cryptocurrency. To my surprise, it seems there were a couple and some being better than others. We’ll take a stab at giving an overview of each below.

Typical Cost per Course: Free course + $99CAD for exam + $39CAD for certification (Paid in cryptocurrency)

Cryptoconsortium.org seems to be a more open platform for becoming certified in Bitcoin, Ethereum (not yet available) and even becoming a cryptocurrency auditor (not yet available).

Bitcoin Professional Exam (CBP)

The Bitcoin Professional Exam (CBP) is basically a recorded YouTube video freely available online with an online exam and certification that must be paid separately – and rightfully so – via Bitcoin.

Certified Ethereum Professional (CEP)

This exam is not currently available (as of January 2021).

Crypto Currency Security Standard Auditor (CCSSA)

The Blockchain Council’s list of certifications is quite expansive and comprehensive. The list below was what we were able to obtain from the Blockchain Councils website. Some of the courses are entirely programmer related while others are better for those more interested in the marketing, trading or business logic within the business of blockchain and cryptocurrency.

The Blockchain Council’s training courses are almost all online pre-recording training videos with an online exam that can be taken afterwards. They do have a couple of live instructor led training courses for those who like a more personalized approach to learning. Also, keep any eye our for their discount codes that they seems to post from time to time.

The list below is separated into four types of courses:

  • Fundamentals Training Courses – these courses are focuses on the generalists that are looking to have a professional certification and professional understanding of the related blockchain or cryptocurrency.
  • Developer and Programmer Training Courses – these courses are target to those software development programmers and engineers looking to be certified in programming on these blockchain and cryptocurrency related platforms.
  • Professional Training Courses – industry specific courses specifically related to blockchain and cryptocurrency in areas such as supply chain, law, health, banking and healthcare.
  • Instructor Led Courses – virtually all of Blockchain Council’s training courses are self-learning with online videos and an online exam. Being more popular, these courses were chosen to be led by live instructors for those that learn better in a live instructional setting.

Conclusion

Not all blockchain and cryptocurrency training courses are the same. For such a relatively new industry when compared to others, blockchain and cryptocurrency is still getting the fundamentals defined. These courses are a great way to learn about blockchain and cryptocurrency – and even enhance your ability in the market to improve your own resume.
